I WANNA TASTE IT BY THE MAGIC SPONGE
Your humble reviewer is a man of science - got a chemistry degree and everything - so when a band mix science and indie rock, we are definitely listening.
Taken from the EP Science-adelic, I Wanna Taste It tells the tale of Swedish pioneering chemist Carl Scheele. This was the early days of discovery and systems of classification, which ended up with the periodic table as we know and love it, were being developed. Scheele's big idea was to arrange elements by taste. He died. Join those dots. As such, he is but a footnote in science's memoirs, but an interesting one.
London's The Magic Sponge have created an intelligent and catchy record. Live shows? Not likely as they retain their status as 'enigmatic'.
Science-adelic is out now and you can get it from all the usual places. Find The Magic Sponge on Facebook
