Rewind to Saturday 26 April 1986 on a sunny spring afternoon where the curtain was about to come down on 100 years of history at the 4000 capacity Granleigh Road home to Leytonstone & Ilford FC. The club subsequently merged with Walthamstow Avenue to form Redbridge Forest, which in turn merged with Dagenham FC in 1992 to form Dagenham & Redbridge FC. All four merged clubs had proud histories as amateur clubs but all had to face the reality of dwindling attendances.
