Founded in 1947, Swallows are considered as one of the original Soweto clubs together with Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs. 

The Johannesburg club are well backed with German powerhouse Volkswagen providing shirt sponsorship, and the shirts themselves provided by Puma.
