One week ago, I confirmed, on this very page, that following a near eight year run, IBWM would be drawing to a close.
I'd hoped that their may be some positive comments for the site, but I didn't anticipate the outpouring of genuine affection for IBWM that materialised via social media and from e-mails to our inbox. Regular readers got in touch, but so did many journalists and writers from across the world, not to mention a few players, past and present. I'd like to put on record my sincere gratitude to everyone that contacted us. It really means a lot.
What I also failed to predict were the offers of help and support that I have been inundated with over the last seven days. Still making some final arrangements but I'm delighted to confirm that suitable mechanisms are being put in place and IBWM will continue for the foreseeable future.
As a naturally cynical individual, I admit that I'd be reading this questioning the motive behind last week's announcement, however I can assure you that, as things stood, time was up. I didn't intend it to be, but my post last week has clearly been the catalyst for change that IBWM needed and perhaps demonstrates that if you need help, tell someone. Something that I'm sure we can all learn from.
On the subject of the #IBWM100, regrettably, we're not going to be in a position to review the players on the 2017 list this year, there just isn't time. I had looked at running this in February, but we'd be rushing and I think that the feature deserves much better. There will be an #IBWM100 for 2018 list as normal though, that's something we always had in the bag, and we'll announce our watch list for 2018 on Thursday 28 December (Brazil are red hot this year, btw).
So, without further ado - yes, IBWM rides again! If you have a story to tell, please don't hesitate to get in touch, the site can only exist with your input and, as has been proved time and time again, this is a great place to get noticed. You can find more information here.
Hopefully, I'll never have to go through this again. Apologies for any inconvenience, thanks for your time and patience. If you have any questions I'll try to answer them below the line.
