THE GARY NEVILLE HOTEL
Not content with forging a career as a football pundit (and a pretty damn good one too if you ask us) on that there television, one time Manchester United and England full back Gary Neville is pressing ahead with proposals to build a hotel and leisure complex in the shadows of Old Trafford’s tallest spires.
Plans have been lodged with Trafford Council not just for a hotel, but also bar areas, restaurants and a club shop. The finished product will have a capacity for 1,200 people to watch matches on big screens.
Only supporters club members will be able to access the lower levels of the venue with the remaining floors of the 10-storey building given over to a 139-bedroom hotel. Match-day suites and a gym are also considered in the plans.
Good luck to brer Nev, but we can’t help feeling sorry for all those players that missed out on football’s financial boom by being born a decade too early. At one time a newsagents or a couple of horses would have sufficed……
