Originally released in 1972, the Royal Plus was the go-to ‘sneaker’ for top athletes, musicians and the man on the street for its simple styling and low lying silhouette. Fast-forward to 2012, and Danish label have got their hands on this esteemed classic and worked collaboratively with PRO-Keds to rework this humble shoe into a behemoth of refined luxury.

Over the course of its life, the Royal Plus eventually became the Royal Master and was the footwear of choice for NBA legends such as Pistol Pete Maravich, cited as being one of the greatest offensive talents of all time, and Kareem Abdul Jabbar who pretty much has every NBA record to his name including being the all-time highest points scorer ever to grace the league. It is safe to say the Royal Master have been on some heavily revered feet.

Norse Projects update of the Royal Master Suede sees the introduction of pigskin suede uppers, an aniline dyed tan leather heel tab, a premium leather lining and a cork insole, all adding a touch of refinement to this essentially basic shoe. These upgrades don’t come as a compromise with authentic touches of the original PRO-Keds trainer still apparent with the classic two-stripe detail to the midsole, PRO-Keds branding to the heel, the classic gum sole as well as the OG silhouette.
