THE ORIGINAL DERBY
Boxing Day, 1860. Two football clubs from South Yorkshire contest the first ever inter-city football match. The mother (and father) of all derbies - Sheffield FC against local rivals Hallam FC.
This Saturday, July 27th, the two local amateur rivals will again go head to head when they celebrate the original values of football: Integrity, Respect and Community.
The entire day will be focussed on remembering and cherishing the first pioneers and true values of football, giving the fans and media a great day in the name of football.
The event will also mark the beginning of a new collaboration - as of July 27th, Hummel will become the official partner and kit supplier of The World’s First Football Club – Sheffield FC and official partner and supporter of the Sheffield Football Club Foundation - ‘The Protector of Football’.
In addition to the main derby, there will be a pioneer match, where veterans of Sheffield FC and Hallam FC celebrate football dressed in the old heritage style, a football meets music match where celebs and legends of Sheffield football, fans and local heroes play together and the day is rounded off with an after party at the Coach & Horses Pub. All of this will be wrapped in a feeling of retro and heritage, as all the fans, guests and visitors are invited to dress in Victorian attire.
