Moussa Sissoko

Moussa Sissoko     22     Midfielder      Toulouse

Seems to have been around for an absolute age and has continued to perform reasonably well at Toulouse, but there is a sense that Sissoko has been standing still. While his game is to drive his team forward and lead from the back, have we already seen the peak of his powers and is there anything else to come?

Originally selected to play at full international level by France aged just 18, Sissoko has only added two more caps to his tally which would have been quite difficult to comprehend in 2009 as clubs queued up to become acquainted with the Mali born midfielder.

None of this makes Sissoko a bad player; he just looks to have hit something of a plateau. Time to make his own mind up if there’s more to come or is he happy to settle for ‘just’ being a decent player.

“All-action box to box midfielder, shows great pace and determination to get forward and push his team. Needs to add more goals to his game” - Andrew Gibney (French Football Weekly)

“A competent, combative holding midfielder who can push forward and drive into opposition territory when needed, yes. The new Michael Essien, as France U-21 coach Erik Mombaerts once described him? Unless he makes considerable improvements to his game, no” - Jonathan F ( just-football.com)

“Has stagnated a bit. Said he was ready to leave Toulouse in March but coach Alain Casanova replied that his performances proved he wasn’t” - Tom Williams (European football reporter for Agence France-Presse)

D     Is this it?
