ION TIMOFTE: NEVER FORGET
Ion Timofte is 44 today.
Never the most mobile of attacking midfielders, but a tremendously gifted and intelligent player nonetheless, Romanian Ion Timofte enjoyed a very successful time in Portugal during the 1990’s. Arriving at Porto from Politehnica Timişoara in 1991, Timofte was in splendid form for The Dragons, winning two league titles, a Portuguese Cup and two Super cups.
Remaining in Oporto, Timofte crossed enemy lines and signed for Boavista in 1994, where he remained for six seasons and became something of a god to fans of As Panteras as the club enjoyed one of its most successful periods. Despite his near mythical status at the Estádio do Bessa, Timofte was often overlooked at international level and only picked up ten caps for Romania.
After his retirement from football, Timofte returned to Timişoara, but such was his emotional attachment to his former club that he named his new hotel and restaurant Boavista.
We found this video earlier today and we really love this sort of thing, a true labour of love from a Boavista fan who won’t forget his club’s legendary number 7 in a hurry.

Hey lads,
I edited this video a few weeks ago. I'm so glad you liked it. Timofte is a true legend and I really can't understand why he never moved to an european giant. Won't forget him indeed.
By the way, brilliant work with the site. Keep it up, it's one of the most interesting online stuff I've found recently.
