For very many obvious reasons, one name springs to mind when you think about the fine Romanian teams of the 1990s.
But while Gheorghe Hagi was brilliant, this was no one-man band. There was Popescu, Lupescu, Balint and Timofte.
There was also Marius Lăcătuș.
Playing off the front man, he pulled, probed and prompted. In two seven-year spells with Steaua Bucharest either side of a sojourn around Europe with Fiorentina and Real Oviedo, he still has more silverware to his name than any other Romanian footballer.
Lăcătuș turns 48 today and we salute him with this tribute.
