The de Boer brothers were magnificent at Ajax, but never really looked right at Barcelona. Both players had an almost ungainly air about them which contrasted completely with outstanding technical ability. They could play.
Defender/midfielder Frank and midfielder/forward Ronald saw things turn a tad nasty at Amsterdam with a particularly spiteful divorce from Ajax dragging through Dutch courts in the late 90’s.
That’s all long gone now, with Frank the current first team coach at Ajax and elder brother Ronald in charge of the Amsterdam side’s reserve team.
These aren’t killer top ten’s by any means, but it is the de Boer’s birthday so let’s indulge them.
