BOME NNWOM BY ATA KAK

Here's a treat. Originally recorded in 1994, Obaa Sima is by Ghanaian artist Ata Kak, but after a 13-year project it's been remastered and re-release by Awesome Tapes From Africa. Only 50 tapes of the original were made and the master had disintegrated, so it immediately became a much harder job than otherwise might have been the case. But it was completely worth it.
As the sun begins to filter through the windows here at IBWM HQ, this cut from the album seems appropriate. A joyful track that makes you think 'you know what? Shit ain't so bad'. And the very audible tape hiss on the track is not a distraction, more a feature.
