Back in September 1903, Uruguayan football reached an important landmark - the national team's first ever away win, 3-2 against neighbours Argentina. From here, Uruguay would go on to bigger and better things, most notably two World Cup victories in the 1930s, and the game is seen as an important step in their football history.
For Club Nacional de Football, this game is also an important part of their history, as the Uruguay team that clinched the 3-2 win was entirely made up of players from their club. So, in many ways, the Montevideo club can claim the victory just as much as the national team!
To celebrate this momentous part in Uruguayan football history, Umbro have unveiled a special edition shirt that marks the 110th anniversary of that special game. Inspired by the shirts worn by Uruguay in that game, the special edition Nacional shirt features a white sash across the chest of the sky blue shirt. The club's crest is also accompanied by three trophies, which marks the three Intercontinental triumphs that Nacional have enjoyed throughout their history.
The shirt can be purchased via Nacional's website.
