NIKE MAGISTA 2 2016

Nike Football have just launched the new edition of the Magista range, the Magista 2. This boot emphasises evolution in touch and traction thanks to advances in scientific testing.

Nike designer, Phil Woodman, reimagined the original silhouette which featured the introduction of the Dynamic Fit collar and changed the way football footwear helps with on pitch performance. The new boot features an increased focus on tactility and tightens the gap between brain and ball.

The 3D print tested upper features peaks varying in size and dimension which is an advancement of the previous Magista due to that being uniform throughout. The peaks utilise the same amount of materials by using negative space with the highest (4.5mm) being in premium touch places, aligned with where the foot should come in contact with the ball.

A more anatomically contoured collar has been included and is designed to accommodate the shape of the ankle bone giving more protection due to a thicker knit. The tongue-less solution also features a light padding beneath the laces to offer additional protection in this high contact area.

For a more secure fit, the boot features an internal heel counter which enhances lockdown while a NikeGrip sockliner maximises in-boot stability.

The stud configuration of the boot has been produced via more scientific testing by using Finite Element Analysis which takes the guess work out of traction. This gives the optimal pattern for play.

The fluid colours reflect the heatmap which was used to guide the design but also through smoother transitions across the boot especially from collar to foot.

The Magista 2 will be available from the Nike Football app from 24th July.
