Football Editions' second volume, African Stars, was recently released and uses the rich designs and patterns of Africa to document 11 of the greatest players the continent has ever given the European game.
The project is the work of Michael Willows and Wayne Trevor Townsend. The typeface used is by Matt Willey with added customised A's which are inspired by the Adinkra symbols of Ghana. The designs are inspired by African prints and artworks, with colour palettes influenced by the respective nation's kits.
Willows and Townsend picked their ultimate African XI from greats who've made a big impact on the European leagues through their skill and engrossing or often enigmatic characters. They said it was hard to keep it to just 11 - and no surprise.
Reading through the lineup, there's some top choices and you can't help but thinking, 'Oh, yeah!' at some of the names. Here's the team:
