Miroslav Stoch
Miroslav Stoch 21 Winger Fenerbahçe
Snapped up at an early age by Chelsea and with several ‘next big thing’ labels quickly attached, at one point it looked like Stoch making a splash in the Premier League would be a ‘when’ and not an ‘if’. Having been unable to make a breakthrough into the first team at Stamford Bridge, he found himself loaned out to Steve McLaren’s FC Twente in 2009 and the move could not have went better as Stoch played an instrumental part in the Enschede club’s first ever Eredivisie title.
Despite his success in Holland, Stoch was considered surplus to requirements at Chelsea and he had no sooner returned to Stamford Bridge before being swiftly sold to Fenerbahçe in 2010.
Stoch has continued to progress well although Fener’s recent off field problems may impact his long term future, along with several of his team mates. A regular starter for his country, Stoch is developing well and he will come again.
“A wonder that he never fitted at Chelsea. Starred on loan for FC Twente and it was something of a surprise that he ended up in Turkey. Still doing it for club and country, but remains off the radar” – John Dobson (Journalist)
“But for a lack of stability at Chelsea’s helm, there’s a chance Stoch could have been a settled squad member by now. A constant goal threat, hard worker and decent finisher” - Ryan Keaney (The Football Project)
C At the crossroads but coming on nicely, the next move will be huge for your long-term prospects.
