THE BEST DAY BY THURSTON MOORE

As mottos go, 'always be wary of aging rockers releasing new material' isn't a bad one. However, there are a few that break the stereotype of seeking to pay off one more alimony bill or stocking up on ivory backscratchers. Johnny Marr's latest stuff, for example, is pretty good.

So too, it proves, is Thurston Moore's. The former Sonic Youth frontman is 56 now, but the voice has hardly changed. His fourth solo album is due out on October 20 on Matador Records and here we have the title track from it.
