TOO DAMN GOOD BY DAVE McCABE & THE RAMIFICATIONS
Forgive this writer for not knowing a lot about the Zutons. They passed me by completely and I feel certain that they're absolutely gutted by that.
What it does mean, however, is that I've no idea how this stacks up against their output. For, you see, Dave McCabe is the former frontman of the aforementioned Liverpool beat combo. What he does have is one of the great names for a backing group - absolutely love that. McCabe explains that he wanted to do something non-guitary, saying "[t]here’s loads of music I’ve always been into, things like Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, Human League, more electronic stuff that was totally different to what we’d been doing in the Zutons. I wanted to do my own version of a Grand Theft Auto soundtrack."
The album, due in September, is a concept album taking the human relationship with technology and machines as it's theme.
Too Damn Good is the first release from the album, coming as a double-A side with Time & Place, and is out on July 29 and have some live dates coming up. Get more information from McCabe's facebook.
