STRANGE BY SCARLET RASCAL

One guarantor of quality in a band is a positive answer to the question 'are they on Geoff Barrow's label?'

Bristol four-piece Scarlet Rascal are.
They have a self-titled album coming out later in the month on Invada Records (prop. Barrow, G) which promises to be a treat if this track, Strange, is anything to go by. It's post-punk, it's noise-rock. It's lo-fi, it's garage. It's many things all blended into one unforgettable maelstrom. Hints of Joy Division and The Fall keep the staffers round here happy, but there's plenty else to enjoy in a powerful four minutes.
