A CLOSER LOOK: THE UMBRO MEDUSÆ 2
A beautiful new release from Umbro has landed and this time they bring us the second edition of the Medusæ. The first colourway is a an electric blue and blazing yellow combination offering a wonderful aesthetic.
Before jumping into the technology surrounding the boot, looking at pure aesthetics; they are a superb boot. A wonderful mixture of blue and yellow. The blue is a lovely colour and the yellow is not overpowering on the boot offering a quality mix. The sock system doesn't only offer enhanced lockdown, it improves the look of the boot. Even the packaging is impressive with the box being half blue and half yellow, with smart typography on the box and an intriguing system for opening it. If colourful boots are your thing, then this one is impressive.
The boot combines two major aspects of football: speed and touch. Umbro have done this by putting together a leather upper offering enhanced control alongside a lightweight soleplate and frame and a sock that locks the foot down.
A cage-like upper, the boot enhances the touch of the ball and is a thin layer, bringing the player closer to the ball. This piece of technology used will help players dictate the play and control games.
With this upper, a sock system is in place to improve the lockdown effect increasing comfort. This allows players to turn faster, accelerate quicker and escalates speed.
Alongside the sock system, the boot is incredibly lightweight. A lightweight boot quickens up a players game due to obvious reasons. Umbro has brought us an incredibly lightweight boot but still ensure the protection of the foot is in place. The best of both worlds. The soleplate is super lightweight which offers the speed side of this boot. A stud system has been developed to offer heightened acceleration and speed with a mixture of circular studs and diamond shaped studs, all at different sizes.
On foot, the boot is incredibly comfortable. Despite being a bit difficult to actually get on the foot, once you have got it on it is completely worth it. The sock system offers high comfort levels and the leather upper is snug on your foot.
Umbro has really brought it with these boots and have impressed. A boot worth looking at using ahead of the new season, no matter what level you play. Check here for more detail.
