SUMMERSTOCK BY IMAGINARY PEOPLE
Another one from a while back that we missed. Imaginary People launched their LP Dead Letterbox - good name, by the way - back in June. If you didn't know, you'd reckon after a quick listen that it's a very New York sort of sound and you'd be bang on the money.
Lead singer Dylan Von Wagner explained some of the lyrics on the album to Idolator: "As a bartender at this one bar on Park Avenue, I had peppered in a few ambassadors and let’s say sketchy foreign diplomats whom after a few drinks would divulge some spicy tales of how the real world works in the dark avalanche that is politics. No matter the scandal or the padded story of glorified public service, I found this world way beyond an average R-rated thriller — it sounded wistful and invigorating all in one fell swoop! I’d say Dead Letterbox is the embodiment of the exciting terror that is sold to us so easily in the news these days."
You can get Dead Letterbox digitally from the usual places, but this writer is struggling to find a physical copy, and find the band on Twitter @imagpeoplenyc
