SING UP FOR THE BOYS IN GREEN

IBWM StaffComment

Back in the summer of 2010, Dublin based Indiecater Records undertook the mammoth task of getting 32 bands to record a song for each of the competing nations in the World Cup in South Africa. Fast Forward turned out to be an epic so for Euro 2012 they decided to slim down and focus on one competing nation.......and what better country than Ireland who are making their first appearance at the Euro’s since 1988?

The brief they gave the contributing bands was to keep it Irish football related and, as you would expect, one or two familiar themes emerged.

Sing Up For The Boys In Green plays out chronologically, with John Aldridge’s frustrating altercation on the line at USA 1994 kicking off proceedings. The man who split a nation (Uncle Mick) in 2002 features heavily for a couple of tracks and the majority seem to have sided with his nemesis.  Invariably, Kevin Kilbane features too....

You can find the album here so please stream it in full and make a point of downloading a free track.
