Bojan

Bojan     21     Striker/Winger     AS Roma

In any other era the mercurial Bojan Krkić would have been the focal point for Catalan adoration at Barcelona, but such is the depth of talent at the Camp Nou the gifted striker/winger/attacking midfielder was always on a hiding to nothing.

All the ingredients are there, pace, trickery, positioning and outstanding technical ability plus a knack for scoring goals.  Confidence and injuries were big factors in Bojan never quite hitting the heights at Barca, but the two words that have provided the young Catalan with the biggest problems are Leo and Messi.  Quite simply, there was never room for both players in Barca’s first XI.

A big money move to Roma raised eyebrows across Europe this summer and many observers will be keen to see how Bojan develops in Serie A.  Including us.  Confidence looks to be the critical factor here.

The start of a gradual drift into obscurity or the catalyst for igniting a vibrant new Roma? Has started moderately well but this could still go either way.

"The eternal promise has found opportunities hard to come by in the best team on the planet. So much pressure has been heaped on him from a young age and it's hard to believe he's still only 21. Despite being the youngest ever Barcelona player to play a league match, Bojan simply had to move on to get first team opportunities and followed Luis Enrique to the Italian capital and AS Roma. The long-term plan is surely to prove himself in Serie A and get a move back to his boyhood club." – Jamie McGregor (spanishfootball.info)

"Establishing himself as an impact player.  Scored as a sub in each of his last two appearances.  Tendency to go missing when he starts." -  James Horncastle (Journalist)
