Marco Reus
Marco Reus 22 Midfielder Borussia Mönchengladbach
As Borussia Dortmund’s brilliant young side stormed to the 2010/11 Bundesliga title, a player they parted ways with some four years previously was quietly going about his job in impressive fashion. Stung by Dortmund’s rejection, Marco Reus built his career through a spell in Germany’s lower leagues and eventually earned a move back to the top tier with Mönchengladbach.
An attacking midfielder, Reus has steadily improved and developed into a real talent. Having flirted with the national side, he’s set about the 2011/12 season in great form and looks to be improving again, his talent more than matched by a determination to show Dortmund what they missed. Last season represented his best ever in terms of appearances, goals and assists and despite an impressive pool to pick from, Reus has made himself impossible for Joachim Löw to ignore.
One of this midfielder's most impressive features is consistency; he rarely has a bad game and he appears to be at the perfect club for his career right now. Whisper it very quietly but in a country blessed with the likes of Özil and Götze, in Reus Germany may have a player who can surpass everyone.
“Potential to be a better player and bigger name than his predecessor Marin, he’s hard-working, technically gifted and a goal threat.”– Ryan Keaney (The Football Project)
